Everything you need to know about the paperwork for donating your car in NJ.
In New Jersey, the Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) requires specific steps for title transfer when donating a vehicle. First, as the donor, you must sign the vehicle title to transfer ownership. Notarization is not required, but it is recommended for added security.
Once signed, notify the MVC of the donation to ensure you are no longer liable for the vehicle. If you have a lost title, you can apply for a duplicate at the MVC. If there are any lien holders, ensure they are aware of your donation to avoid future complications.
